Heavenly, California/Nevada - History
Heavenly Mountain Resort is a ski resort located on the California-Nevada border in South Lake Tahoe. It has 85 runs and 29 lifts that are spread between California and Nevada and a four base facility. The resort was recently purchased by Vail Resorts, Inc. The resort has 4,800 permit acres (19 km²), with approximately 33% developed for skiing, making it one of the largest ski resorts in California. It is also Tahoe's highest ski resort, with a peak lift elevation of 9,965 ft (3,037 m) and a vertical rise of 3,325 feet (1013 m). With an average of 360 inches (9 m) of snow annually and one of America's largest snowmaking systems[citation needed], their season usually runs from late November to mid April.
